Are you a shutterbug? Do you love to see the world through a camera lens? Then get snapping and enter your best photos in the Lord Mayor’s Photographic Awards.


Capture an original picture that makes a statement about life in Brisbane.


The sixth annual Lord Mayor’s Photographic Awards are free to enter and are open to any Brisbane resident.

The winner will receive more than $10,000 in prize money!

You’ve got until 27 August 2010 to submit an original entry.


Download an entry form at www.museumofbrisbane.com.au, collect a form from the Museum at 157 Ann Street, Brisbane or call Council on (07) 3403 8888.

Lord Mayor Campbell Newman said judges would be looking for images that explore Brisbane’s unique culture, community and lifestyle.

“We are hoping to attract entries that reveal Brisbane’s diversity and strengthen its reputation as Australia's New World City,” Cr Newman said.


“This year's finalists will be seen by more people than ever before when the pictures go on display in King George Square and also online at ourbrisbane.com,” he said.


“We've increased this year's prize money and the winning entrant in the Open category will be included in the City of Brisbane Collection, creating a lasting legacy for the people of Brisbane.”


Categories and prize packages
Brisbane residents can enter their photos in the following categories:


Open
$10,000 prize money


Youth (30 years and under)
$2,500 prize money plus professional development opportunities


ourbrisbane.com People’s Choice Award
$500 prize money (decided by popular vote online)

Entries will be judged by a panel including Lord Mayor Campbell Newman, Peter Denham – Director of Museum of Brisbane, Georgina Lewis – Network 10, and Associate Professor Jay Younger – Queensland College of Art, Griffith University.


Winners will be announced on Friday 9 October 2010 with winning entries on display in King George Square until Sunday 31 October 2010.


The 2010 Lord Mayor’s Photographic Awards are proudly presented by Museum of Brisbane in association with Network 10 and ourbrisbane.com.
